By Connie Longie, LAC, CTTS, NCACII, ShareHouse, Inc., ShareHouse Robinson Recover Center

Q:  When is a good time to quit smoking? Does smoking lead to relapse?
A: While in addiction treatment, 3 out of 4 smokers say they want to quit smoking. And yes, studies have indicated smoking leads individuals back to other drugs of choice including alcohol.
While working on an addiction, it can be a good time to address nicotine addiction and learn to develop skills to deal with triggers. There are 4 stages of quitting smoking:
Stage 1: Not seriously thinking about quitting
Stage 2: Thinking about the pros and cons of quitting
Stage 3: Intending to quit and taking actions to do so
Stage 4: Remaining off smoking or returning to it
Breaking the habit of addictions can be difficult––and learning to deal with symptoms is challenging. Let ShareHouse help guide you––call to schedule a FREE drug and alcohol consultation today!
